We are immersed in unlimited stimuli. There are quantum of waves of light and sound and radiations and heat and vibrations that each and every one of us is exposed to at every point of time. Hanging upside down on this Earth we are all the time flooded with limitless such stimuli that are always there striking our sense organs to get acknowledged. Thankfully enough a huge part of this is mediated by our sense organs that have extremely limited capacity. My eyes can see seven colours VIBGYOR and respond to 300-700nm wavelength frequencies. The frequencies above Violet are ultra violet and those below red are infra red. These unlimited stimuli are surrounding not only the planet but the entire universe all the time. The other creatures that I share planet with have altogether different perceptions than me. The honey bee has the capacity of ultra violet vision and the same colour that I perceive as black is perceived as red by the bee. The visual blue yellow light has a wavelength of 570nm for me and the same 570nm is red for bee. Now the big question is that if these stimuli generate the sense of reality for me? Are they the only source of reality that I can perceive? Is my sense of reality always mediated by organs to me or the organs provide only a set of tools that enable me make sense of reality? The above questions make the underlying basis of human subjectivity and objectivity. We have always asked ourselves that whether the perception of reality is subjective or objective, or whether it is a combination of both. Whether it is a human beings no or a honey bee it doesn’t seem to be fully subjected to and reliant on organs only. “We do interplay and interact with our surroundings and reality beyond our sense organs”, is what objectivity is all about. The above discussion and argument is eventually important to understand the concept of reality and then eventually to understand the debate between the reason and faith and the limitations of both by us(human beings).
